Olaplex Hair Care at home

Olaplex is a 3-step treatment used for all hair types and color services. It works by "chemically bonding" broken disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair with its patented ingredients to rebuild the hair structure making it stronger, healthier and shinier. Olaplex was created as an answer to those who color their hair or regularly use heat tools on their fine locks. Olaplex 0, Olaplex 3, and Olaplex 8 ended up becoming the miracle products for those suffering from damaged hair caused by breakage due to lack of moisture, over processing or just general wear and tear.

Why does my hair need this?

The most vulnerable part of your strand is where each cuticle layer meets one another. When coloring, they penetrate all three layers – cortex  (center), cuticle (surface) and medulla (core). Those sulfur bonds are broken and never return to their original state. This loss of elasticity causes frizz, dryness, brittleness and an overall devastated appearance.

What can I expect?

Before going through with any Olaplex treatment, it is best to have a consultation with your stylist or use a home test kit . Each level has a strength specific for each client's needs – take into consideration how often you style your hair as well as color services you have had in the past six months to determine what would be  the best course of action.

Level 1 : Hydration that targets damaged hair when "nothing else works" or for pre-treatment before bleaching/lightening the hair.

Let's face it, most of us have suffered from some sort of heat damage in our lives. Whether you have tangles and frizz with a curling iron every morning, unwanted creases left behind after sleeping with your straightener overnight or just general dryness after blow drying your locks – this level is for you! Your stylist will place  Olaplex No 0 on the specific areas you are concerned about at the beginning of your service to saturate each strand leaving them hydrated without weighing down the hair shaft.

Level 2: Olaplex No 3, hair perfector strengthens and fortifies each strand while building the hair's core structure. This product is used during your color service or when you want to add an extra layer of protection before heat styling. The molecule will bond to the core of the hair where it becomes a "smart cap" making it stronger and more elastic over time with continued use.

Level 3: Olaplex No 8 Intense mask repairs broken disulfide sulfur bonds both old and new providing unmatched shine and softness leaving your hair healthier than ever before! On clean and fresh hair, this treatment is applied for 20 minutes.

As always, consult with your stylist before treating your strands and remember to ask them which level they feel will work best for you! Also make sure to use Olaplex 3 (the perfector) every time you shampoo and condition in order to maintain moisture and strength of each strand. Post color or chemical service, there's no better way to treat yourself than with an Olaplex experience!

What's important to note:

Olaplex should be applied to each client's hair specifically so you want to make sure it's customized for your hair type. Your stylist will know the strength level that needs to be used. You may need Olaplex 0, Olaplex 3, and Olaplex 8  depending on how often you style and/or color your tresses. A test strand before any chemical service is highly recommended in order to determine correct strength needed for  treatment.
